How a quest is completed
Nobody competes. You complete a quest by reaching a landmark, photographing a discovery, learning something meaningful or taking part in an experience — and collecting any combination of these for your Quest Log:
The free base game: accessible, familiar excursions, included with an eligible booking.
Paid add-ons: more active or unusual experiences, with the full quest layer included.
Premium and limited: rare, seasonal or demanding — memorable because they’re hard to reach, not because they’re dangerous.
Milestones, not rankings
Follow one realm or mix all three. There’s no public leaderboard and no pressure to finish faster than anyone else.
What a paid quest includes
Every Adventure and Legendary quest is more than the excursion on its own. “Free” quests mean Ocean Realms doesn’t charge to unlock or complete them — never that accommodation, transport or third-party services are free.

The rules of the realm
- Wildlife is never touched, chased or disturbed.
- Coral, shells, sand and cultural objects stay where they are.
- Residents, homes, religious sites and cultural activities are photographed only with permission.
- Seasonal wildlife quests depend on season, location, permits and natural sightings — they’re completed by taking part responsibly, not by guaranteed contact.

How the Quest Log works
Every completed quest becomes a page in your personal Quest Log: verified by your guide, stamped with the realm seal, and kept as a story of where you went and what you found. There is no points table and no ranking.

About the quests
Are Explorer quests really free?
Yes. Ocean Realms does not charge to unlock or complete an Explorer quest. Your accommodation, transfers and any third-party services are priced separately as part of your journey.
What do Adventure and Legendary quests include?
They are optional paid add-ons that may include the excursion, equipment, transport, a licensed guide, a quest briefing, verification, a Quest Log stamp, a digital badge and a memory card. Each quest lists what is included before you book.
Is this a competition?
No. Quests are personal achievements. There are no leaderboards, no rankings against other guests and no pressure to finish anything faster.
Can I combine realms?
Yes. Many journeys mix a few nights on a local island with a resort or a liveaboard. Choose “A mix” in the quiz or the enquiry form and we will suggest a route.
What happens if a Legendary quest cannot go ahead?
Legendary quests depend on weather, season and licensed partners, and wildlife is never guaranteed. If one cannot run, we offer to reschedule it, swap it for an equivalent quest, give quest credit or refund it under the cancellation policy.
When is the best time to visit the Maldives?
The Maldives has two monsoon seasons. The north-east monsoon, roughly December to April, is usually drier with calmer seas. The south-west monsoon, roughly May to November, brings more rain and wind, but also some of the best manta and pelagic diving, and often lower prices.
Do I need to register?
No. You can explore every realm and quest and send an enquiry without an account. A free Explorer profile simply lets you save quests and keep your Quest Log.
